Hi Everyone, welcome to yet another new Season of racing.
Thank you to all you competitors who supported us throughout last season, and congratulations to those who made the Podium at sometime during what can only be described as an exciting and memorable year of competitive racing. You guys are the ones who keep us in the number one spot year on year. Without the support from one another, we will fail to succeed in the way we do. With that in mind, thank you also to all the Norasport staff who keep us in line when we need it, and who commit themselves to making sure that we enjoy our racing and who see fair play wherever possible……………………. They ALL did an excellent job last year and I’m sure they will continue to do their work in a due and diligent manner, with a smile and a helping hand when most needed……………. Especially those paramedics……… don’t forget to smile at them first thing in the morning…………
While on the subject of support, thanks to all our sponsors’, again, without their help life would not be so pleasurable. Those gifts and awards at the end of a weekends sport mean a lot to those on the receiving end. Let’s make sure to return their kind gesture by ALL being in attendance at presentation time. This year will see a lot more spot prizes and special awards, but you have to be there…………… your name won’t get called out twice!
This year sees us with a new title sponsor, Malcolm Wooton of Moto Comp, he has some top gear and is looking to give special deals for those who get in early and get measured up for a choice of custom built quality leather race suits, designed with supermoto bikers’ and quaders’ in mind. Go find him in the paddock, and see first hand what he has to offer – from what I have seen, you will be pleasantly surprised. Unless you think you can win one of course (see separate details)
The Championship is going to be more competitive than ever this year, with only one round to play with out of the nine rounds, which are nicely spaced in the calendar for those of us who are on a budget. I’m sure that we can expect some hard fought races during, what looks to be, a full season ahead of us.
We all realise what hard work it is enjoying ourselves, and a heavy commitment in time and expense. When making sure you have read all the info available to comply with the rules and regulations for you and your equipment to get through scrutineering without any hold-ups when presented for inspection, don’t forget that all important factor………….NOISE………. You are subject to a sound inspection at any time during a race weekend, and it can be very embarrassing for all concerned if your machine is over the limit. No-one likes to spoil a competitor’s weekend, but we do have the ever more powerful environmental bodies keeping a close eye on us with their own ideas which we must be seen to comply with. Unfortunately they do have the power to impose a stop notice on us, by which time it is too late to argue……PLEASE don’t give them the opportunity.
This year see’s a change on admin with Paul Simmonds and Bob Maxwell in the saddle. I would like to think that you will welcome Paul back, and help him wherever possible, to help you with your queries and problems. It is essential that we get scrutineered and signed on as early as possible please. There is always a certain amount of work to do after signing on and before we can get out on the track, and lets be honest, it’s your valuable track time that you are throwing away if we have a late start. It could prove difficult to catch up any lost time during the day, and therefore cuts down the duration of the finals at the end of the day………….. Remember that everyone, including those unsung heroes – the marshals – need a break during the day.
I did say that enjoying yourself is hard work!, but as with everything in life, you only get back out of it what you are prepared to put in!!!
What we DO want to see and hear, is everyone going home happy after an enjoyable weekends competitive sport. But, again, please try and appreciate just how much work goes on behind the scenes to make this happen……
